12 Questions Everyone Asks Before Trying Advanced Conversational Hypnosis (ACH)

Advanced Conversational Hypnosis FAQ

Curious about ACH but not sure where to start? You are in the right place. This Advanced Conversational Hypnosis FAQ answers the 12 questions I hear most often from clients considering breakthrough sessions.

You can watch the video above for quick answers, or read the detailed responses below. Either way, you’ll get a clearer sense of how ACH works, what makes it different, and whether it is right for you.

If you’d like to book a free Clarity Call to explore whether this is the right fit for you, you will find the booking button at the bottom of the page.

Q1. What is Advanced Conversational Hypnosis, and how does it differ from conversational hypnosis?

Conversational hypnosis, pioneered by Milton Erickson in the mid 20th century, uses natural language patterns to communicate with the subconscious mind while easing conscious resistance. Advanced Conversational Hypnosis, or ACH, takes this much further. Instead of trying to place outside suggestions into your mind, we work with your subconscious through meaningful, intuitive conversation to uncover your own answers.

This is a client led process. There are no pre written scripts, props, eye closure, or formal trance techniques. You stay fully alert, aware, and in control throughout. The practitioner responds in real time to what you are saying, feeling, and noticing, which helps us reach the deeper reasons you feel stuck. Many clients experience powerful clarity in a single session because we are working at the root, not only at the surface.

Q2. Why choose Advanced Conversational Hypnosis over traditional methods?

Many people choose ACH because it can create meaningful change far more efficiently than traditional approaches. One in depth breakthrough session, usually over the course of a morning or afternoon, can often achieve what might otherwise take weeks or months of shorter hypnosis or talk therapy appointments.

ACH also moves beyond scripted techniques and generic coping tools. By the time clients find me, they have often already spent years analysing their challenges logically, yet still feel stuck. That is because the issue showing up today is often a symptom of something deeper in the subconscious mind. It may connect to unresolved childhood experiences, relational trauma, nervous system patterns, or old protective responses that no longer serve you.

When we work directly with those deeper roots, change feels more natural, more complete, and far more sustainable than simply managing symptoms.

Q3. What happens in an ACH session, and what does it feel like?

An ACH session is a deep, reflective conversation designed to access subconscious insight.

As you begin exploring your inner world more honestly, many people notice their sense of time changing. Reflection deepens. Answers surface that may have felt out of reach before. I ask questions you may not think to ask yourself, which creates space for a different level of awareness.

You may also notice physical sensations as your nervous system responds. Some clients feel pressure lifting from their chest. Others notice movement in their stomach, heaviness or lightness in their limbs, or emotional release. These responses are useful because they give us valuable information to work with.

There are no trance inductions, countdowns, or dramatic hypnosis techniques. You remain awake, alert, and fully in control the entire time.

Sessions usually last between 2 and 4 hours so we have the space to fully explore the root cause, rather than stopping just as something important begins to unfold.

Q4. Where did conversational hypnosis originate?

Conversational hypnosis traces back to psychiatrist Milton Erickson, whose work transformed hypnosis in the mid 20th century.

Traditional direct hypnosis often struggled with analytical or resistant clients. Erickson developed a different approach using stories, metaphors, and natural conversation to communicate more effectively with the subconscious mind.

Advanced Conversational Hypnosis builds on these foundations. It takes Erickson’s principles and applies them within a modern therapeutic framework designed to help with challenges such as anxiety, confidence, habits, emotional healing, and personal change.

Q5. Who is Advanced Conversational Hypnosis ideal for?

Advanced Conversational Hypnosis is particularly effective for people who value meaningful results and want to create change without spending months in therapy.

This often includes:

  • Busy professionals and executives experiencing imposter syndrome, confidence struggles, decision paralysis, negative thinking loops, or difficulty setting boundaries despite outward success
  • High achievers carrying unresolved trauma, including micro traumas from narcissistic parents, partners, or workplaces, as well as complex PTSD
  • People navigating career change or searching for direction who feel uncertain, stuck, or overwhelmed
  • Those experiencing stress or burnout who need their nervous system to feel calmer and safer again
  • Individuals frustrated by procrastination, self sabotage, or limiting habits that have not shifted through willpower alone

ACH often works especially well for analytical thinkers and people who have already tried other approaches. See other Experiences here.

Q6. Should I do Advanced Conversational Hypnosis online or in person, and which is best?

Advanced Conversational Hypnosis works incredibly well online, and for many people it is actually the ideal setting.

Being in your own familiar environment can help you feel safer, calmer, and more relaxed from the beginning. There is no travel stress, no adjusting to an unfamiliar space, and you can stay comfortable after deep emotional work.

Clients often find they settle into the process more quickly when they are already somewhere their nervous system feels safe. What matters most in ACH is the quality of the conversation and what your subconscious mind reveals, not being in the same physical room.

Q7. What if everything else has failed? How can you know if ACH will work for you?

Many people come to ACH after trying therapy, coaching, self help strategies, or mindset work that only created temporary relief.

Often this happens because previous approaches focused on managing symptoms rather than uncovering the subconscious patterns underneath them.

ACH explores those deeper drivers. Childhood experiences, relationship wounds, nervous system adaptations, and protective behaviours can all shape what feels difficult today.

Whether ACH is the right fit depends less on what you have tried before, and more on whether this approach matches what you need now.

That is exactly why the Clarity Call matters. It helps us assess your goals, the complexity of what you are experiencing, and whether I believe ACH is the right pathway for you.

Q8. How many sessions of Advanced Conversational Hypnosis do most people need?

Most clients need one breakthrough session lasting between 2 and 4 hours.

After that, some choose to book a follow up celebration call around one month later to reflect on progress and notice what has shifted.

A second ACH session is occasionally helpful if another layer appears that we did not need to address in the first session, but that is far less common than with traditional weekly therapy models.

Q9. What if everything else has failed? How can you know if ACH will work for you?

Advanced Conversational Hypnosis isn’t suitable for everyone. Severe psychosis, uncontrolled epilepsy, or active addictions require medical stabilisation first. I refer these to appropriately trained professionals.

Success depends far more on your readiness for change, honest engagement, and openness to subconscious insights than being ‘easy to hypnotise’. Analytical sceptics frustrated by logic’s limits often excel when genuinely committed.

I offer complimentary Clarity Calls to assess mutual fit before inviting you to work together. Book yours below.

Q10. Does advanced conversational hypnosis really work for deep change (like anxiety or habits)

Yes. Advanced Conversational Hypnosis works by accessing the subconscious root causes behind surface-level issues through natural, guided conversation. Instead of managing symptoms, we work directly with the patterns creating them, which is why change can feel both deep and lasting.

Clients often come with anxiety, procrastination, confidence issues, or long standing habits that haven’t shifted through traditional approaches. By working at the level where these patterns are held, many people experience meaningful breakthroughs in 1 to 2 sessions.

Q11. What results can you expect from Advanced Conversational Hypnosis?

Expect reduced anxiety, a greater sense of calm, broken habits, boosted confidence, resolved imposter syndrome, clearer thinking, and a stronger sense of direction. Many people also notice they begin to see situations from new angles, with more positive thinking and a more resilient, steady mindset in everyday life.

Advanced Conversational Hypnosis works by uncovering unconscious root causes through natural conversation, allowing real change to happen at the level where these patterns are formed. This is why it can create breakthroughs where traditional therapy or coaching has stalled.

Most clients notice early shifts within 24 to 48 hours, often described as feeling lighter, calmer, or more mentally spacious. Subconscious integration then continues over the following weeks, with changes deepening and becoming more stable over time.

Q12 When will you see changes from Advanced Conversational Hypnosis?

Change typically begins within 24 to 48 hours after a session, as the subconscious continues to process and reorganise the work we have done. Many people describe a noticeable shift within the first few days, often waking with a clearer or calmer internal state.

Over the following weeks, these changes tend to stabilise and become more consistent in daily life. In some cases, improvements continue unfolding over many months as deeper layers integrate naturally in the background.

The ACH process is not forced or linear. It continues working after the session, which is often where some of the most important shifts take place.
